I am the only outfitter with private access to this stretch of the Animas River. You pick the date and time to enjoy a guided excursion with just your family or friends. Get away from the crowds floating the Animas through Durango and enjoy spotting deer, elk, hawks and the majestic San Juan Mountains instead.

Hi, my name is James Wilkes and I have worked as a commercial river guide since 1995 and became part owner of Salt River Rafting llc in 2006. My dream is to take my 17 years of guiding whitewater raft trips, 4x4 jeeping, mountain biking and hiking and provide a service to others thinking and planning outside of the box.
