Durango Adventures of Colorado will specialize in scenic Animas River floats and shuttles to access the incredible hiking, biking, boating and jeeping of Southwest Colorado starting in the spring of 2011.

Our small, personalized raft trips in the incredibly scenic Animas river valley 12 miles north of Durango, CO have a 12 person maximum in two rafts. We are the only river company with access to this stretch of river. This means you can relax and enjoy a peaceful float that communes with the river rather than challenges it. That's right, this is a Class II scenic, no stress float, not a whitewater experience.

The Durango River Trips difference.

My goal is to conduct trips that emphasize the beauty of the river and its surroundings with a focus on natural history, geology, local history, wildlife and good conversation while floating down the "river of lost souls," El Rio de las Animas Perdidas. I have been guiding trips since 1995 from coast to coast and in Costa Rica. I have made Durango my home since 1998. I believe this type of a trip will be enjoyed by people who want a more intimate and relaxed journey with JUST their family and friends.

El Rio de las Animas Perdidas

You have probably come to Durango to get away from the crowds, to enjoy the fantastic scenery, perfect climate, and unparalleled beauty of the San Juan Mountains. Mesa Verde or Chaco Canyon, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Guage Railroad and Durango Mountain Resort (we still call it Purgatory) attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

My company is all about getting away from the crowds on a stretch of river that is peaceful, scenic, and can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Durango River Trips will never put more than two boats per trip on the river. That builds in a limit of a maximum 12 adults. These are large 16 foot rafts designed to hold ten people each, 6 adults will be the maximum giving everyone lots of room. Being the only licensed outfitter on this stretch of the Animas guarantees a very special trip!
